Goin' astray in Malaysia (KL)

After my trip to Burma, I decided to stay in Kuala Lumpur for a few days with a friend to explore some of its known and unknown areas. Many told me that there's nothing to see in KL, but I beg to disagree. There's so much to see when you are in a different place - it is just a matter of perspective and the kind of adventure you are up to.

Upon arriving at the KL International Airport we took a 45-minute bus ride to KL Sentral. We hopped off at the KL Sentral train station as we had to take the mono rail to Bukit Bintang, which is where we booked our accommodation.

Now the train ticket in KL is different, they come in chips not cards. And as the station we were in is where all train lines converge, it can be pretty confusing where to go. Yet the assistance desk wasn't that much of a help for us. We got the chips but mistakenly took the wrong entrance so our chips went in vain. The station in charge only gave us a map and didn't say much. He just watched us take the wrong entrance. We had to get another one to be able to pass through the right gate.

We got into the monorail safely. It is called such because it traverses on a single rail. It swerves and bends which was kind of unusual for first timers riding it. And I think it is but right to say that their trains are more advance than in the Philippines. Definitely, way more advance. But considering the new construction of subways and train stations, we might be close.🙏 lol

Mono rail station at Bukit Bintang

A fancy rail station that we took going to the museum.

But here's a more interesting story.

We got off Bukit Bintang station and passed through Berjaya Mall. Our booked accommodation was just behind it. We looked for it for an hour only to find out that we were on the right spot but failed to see the sign because of the bus blocking it. With both of us so tired of the hours of travel, our friendship was tried of how long we can keep looking, walking and asking. My friend nearly gave up as she sat on a road's gutter while letting out a very big sigh of disappointment and exhaustion hahahaha We found ourselves in a mini argument of whose fault it was for failing to see the building right away. But we finally did see it when the bus blocking it drove away.

I went inside the hostel. And because of my extreme frustration for their unnoticeable sign, I ranted at the receptionist really loud that I didn't notice a fellow Filipino come in. That Filipino later invited us for dinner but we already ate so I had to decline. But now that I mentioned it, I should've just said yes lol The next days after that unforgettable night of mishaps, we toured around KL. We maximized riding their train and the free Go KL Bus which goes around the city (the key is to know its stops and schedule). We went to the Botanical Garden, mosque, malls, and museums. Throughout that walking, we got to see the European and modern architecture around the city. I always enjoy riding the train and walking, but I think I overstretched my friend's ability to do so hahaha

Buildings.
...and Buildings.
Botanical Gardens

Stopped by Central Market to buy cheap 'pasulong' for family and friends.

Walked under the scorching heat to get here lol

Petronas Tower glowing at night is mesmerizing.

But what tops my KL experience is the KL Tower, damn that uphill walk almost left me out of breath (maybe its because we've been walking since early morning) Rising for more than a thousand feet (1000 ft) above the ground, the KL Tower provides a breathtaking view of the whole city, including the Petronas not far off.

We were on top of that!
...and posed for a photo in KL tower's glass cube.
Those are just some of the many photos and places we've been to. There are places that I have listed that we were not able to go to as I had to cut the trip short. But I'll be exploring the whole city again, if given enough money and time to.

I got toned and lost 2kg after that trip. It's just what I needed. nyhahaha
